Port Forwarding your IoT Projects

In this video I have shown you one technique on controlling your local area network based projects over internet by port forwarding using ngrok service.

I'm running ngrok service on my Raspberry Pi board so that this project can work for longer period of time.

Can we set a static web address? May be by using DDNS Service, because the url keeps on varying, and if you want to go for long term obviously, everytime you have to go and check the address, and then go to the site. So it would be better if we can set a ddns kind off service, so that we can get a static address. Do make a video for that!! That would be helpful.

hey we can use node mcu or any other cheap devices as an alternative to Raspberry Pi.

This is ok but if u have any web server available in AWS or other services you can easily do it by creating your own web application and send the response to a normal text file so that our iot devices will check the status and update accordingly .

you tell, should we actually turn off Raspberry Pi while port forwarding, and if we restart Pi, will we have to do the entire process again or it will start forwarding automatically ? Coz I cant keep my Pi running all the time...as we have power outages sometimes and I want the port forwarding to run all the answer, ...or should I do with router forwarding ?

Great idea but unfortunately since may 2022:
How long can you run Ngrok? One of the new limits is a session expiration time of 2 hours. When an Ngrok connection reaches this length it stops working, and the only way to restore it is by stopping and restarting the ngrok command, which causes a new randomly generated URL to be used.
