When you verify also 1/2 of mass should be taken, the rest moves in horizontal direction :) That's a good exercise

For your displacement expression, you wrote "x". But why not write "(20 - x)" for the displacement undergone by the differential mass element? There are some problems were the displacement expression is just "x" and others were the expression is "an amount of length - x" .

Hi Michel, how did you know that the chain was 10m from the top of the roof? Was it just an assumption?

i wish u reply my question sir: well, to determine the location of the centroid of a body we balance the moments of the particles and the total weight of the body around each axis we the principle of moments to do so
now what is the principle u sir used to say that the potential E gained by each particle equals the p.E of the centroid of the total body
why is that true ?!

Why you dont use dx? You integrate dmgx shuldnt it be dmgdx? And do a double integral?
