What America is not ready for is the Cascadia Event, which will be a 8.0-9.0 earthquake that has a 50% or better chance of happening in the next 50 years along the Pacific Coast. Bridges, old homes, and even some old skyscrapers downtown in Portland, Oregon will experience complete structural failure. It is the most likely "apocalypse" scenario in the foreseeable future, not global warming, or even nuclear war.

I live right over the river from Philly in South Jersey. Felt it here. Thought my upstairs neighbor had an uneven load of laundry on the spin cycle. Was a little more "violent" than their laundry usually is As far as shaking dishes and other glass decorations

For a moment I was thinking, "C'mon, Fox! Playpen??? Get real, it's clearly a crate, waterer, & pen setup for a pet!"
But then I googled "playpen" and I see that the term now applies to pet pens as well.
So, apparently the vernacular has shifted without my permission and Fox is correct.

A 4.8 is barely enough to feel. I lived in a place that had three 5+ quakes within 25 miles west, south, and east of me. People just went on with their day.
