Why don’t straight men in America feel comfortable holding hands? The answer might be because they’re afraid of what other men will think about them.

there are very few reasons I would hold hands with anyone for an extended period of time. man or woman.
1) actually in a relationship with them.
2) helping an elderly person or young child across the street or something.
it has nothing to do with whether the person is a guy or not
also, the only thing about this video i can respect is that you actually left the comments on. bravo.

I use to watch MTV music videos before we are here.

Did they forget handshakes, high fives and hugs? Holding hands is for couples and parents with their children so they won't run off.

Dont you just hate : Womansplaining, Matriarchy, Soyboys, Feminazis, Bigotry, etc.. Are these 2 on drugs or what ? Whatever happened to MTV. It was so freaking awesome in the 80-90`s

So, you’re telling me what I should be doing with my body?
That’s not very liberal progressive feminist woke of you.
I thought it was my body, my choice.

He seems like the type of guy who passes all of the empty urinals to stand directly next to yours. Then drops his pants and underwear to his ankles.

Women don't hold hands with other women either. your anti-male bias is showing, MTV.

I don't see adult women holding hands either. Unless they're, ya know, gay.

I love at the end of the video they say don’t let people force their ideas on others, yet here we are with MTV doing just that

I'm a female and I do not hold hands with my female friends either

Manufactured outrage.
This is completely idiotic and, honestly, quite stereotypical of the anti-intellectual MTV millennial viewer.

Do you people even try to think through your arguments before posting them ?

Here are the two reasons I don't hold men's hands:

1) I don't want to
2) I don't want people to think I'm romantically involved with them when I'm not

Calling it toxic masculinity and homophobia would only make sense if I acted differently with women. But I only hold hands with my wife. Does not wanting to hold other women's hands show homophobia or toxic masculinity ?

I fail to see why you should consider not wanting to hold hands to be a problem. Ever heard about letting people do whatever they want ? If that's too much for you, at least be intellectually honest and call it a cultural problem of associating hand holding with romantic involvement, but don't claim it's got anything to do with toxic masculinity or homophobia. That argument just doesn't hold water.

Oh, and about the "America, land of of the free except not really free for a man to hold another man's hand" quote. Can you point to laws in America that prevent you from doing so if you wish ? Are there not even laws that will punish anyone who tries to infringe your right to do so ? What more do you want ?

If I was hanging off a cliff and my male friend offered his hand to save my life, I'd say "fine but no homo"

"Touched any dudes lately?"

"So many, Franchesca. Somehow, I'm still straight."

Is anyone going to tell him?

If I say two men holding hands, yeah, I would assume they were gay. But I would also assume two women holding hands are dating, or a man and a woman. Straight women don't tend to hold hands with their straight male friends. It's nothing to do with 'toxic masculinty'. As a woman, I wouldn't hold hands with friends of any gender. My boyfriend, yes, my little brother sometimes (he's 14, so not that young, but he's family).

Wait men in other cultural's hold hands? But I thought if I did something from another cultural that would be cultural appropriation and make me a republican and racist.

Great video as usual! I'm looking forward to the followup video "Straight men don't suck each other off due to toxic masculinity". I expect it will be informative as usual.

This might come as a shock to you, but men and women bond with each other differently because funnily enough men and women are different. If anything, all this goes to show is that MTV are intolerant of the ways in which men bond with other men.
