J.S. Bach said about his compositions: "I don't have a natural talent, everyone who works as hard as me can achieve the same."

A small lyric writing tip. I suffer HORRIBLE writer's block on lyrics... staring at a blank sheet for 8 hours horrible. Someone said " try just PURPOSELY writing total garbage" so I tried to just write sonething horrendous, even nonsense that had nothing to do with the song. I found, after vomiting out some initial landfill, my brain followed up with usable - even good - material. So that's a way to get unstuck. Purposely spew out some garbage if horribly stuck.

As I've gotten older, I've tried to live by the motto, "Don't be afraid to suck."

One doesn't need to be unhappy to create art, but one needs to create art when unhappy.

I cannot help but to be completely enamored by your humility and realness. Most of this video could be summed up to this-- "Take action- do it- get in the trenches and stop worrying about being perfect today because thats not how this works."

It’s an absolute must to use a ribbon mic recording a Peruvian Sphincter Flute!

Hi Warren, I'm Paul from S.Korea. I first learned about your channel about 5 years ago and I've been keeping up with your contents ever since then(except for the time I served in the Korean Army). I always wanted to mix better and better even though I was a singer, and I never gave up on studying mixing. I bought all the contents from Pro Mix Academy and studied so hard to train my ears and craftsmanship, and finally this month, I debuted as a mix engineer and mixed a song that was published here in Korea. I just wanted to thank you the most because even though you don't know me, I learned so much from you and your contents and I believe you were mainly the reason I had so much fun mixing music. So THANK YOU for being a great teacher, and I hope you keep doing marvelously well in the future :) !!!

this is some of the best 25 minutes of living this life. i get a lot more out of the deal when i pick up a guitar and play WITH it - instead of intending to PLAY it. making music is a journey of discovery. along the way spirits reveal themselves to those who step off the beaten path and let the journey carry them. music is a manifestation of infinity. i hope to meet you one day, here or there.

I honestly felt bad about making songs that I never finished and felt even worse moving on to another one just to do the same thing and now you're here saying that it is perfectly normal and that I should continue is literally the most motivating thing ever. Thanks bro have definitely touched a heart. All the tips were helpful btw

You mentioned being humble. I think that is what draws people to your channel. You tell it like it should be. Thank you Warren for sharing your talent.

Extremely valuable advice, particularly for young people wanting to enter the business. You have a gift for reducing the crazy biz that is music production to normality. Thanks Warren!

One of my hang ups, "You don't need to know everything". Ever since I was a pre-teen, I always thought that everyone was ahead of me and that I would never "catch up" to them. The first time I felt I was capable to achieve the high standards I set for myself was audio recording. I tracked and mixed my bands album and receive multiple nominations and an award from our area Grammy-like association (WAMI - Wisconsin Area Music Industry). Thanks for the video, Warren...actually, thank you for all that you do for the PLAP'ers and the music community in general.

I went to Sae 17 years ago and I have learned more from this channel and Logic presets than the whole 3 years I spend going to school. Great info.
