Everyone knew going in that it was going to come down to Yorknew vs Chimera Ants. Everyone knew.

In my opinion there are no 'crippling lows' in the chimera ant arc, there's a few slow and unnecessary episodes but I still enjoyed them. Good list still though

8. Zoldyck Family Arc
- Solid arc that expand on Killua family and their butlers, and on the friendship between our 4 main characters but it also isn't nothing special.
7. Dark Continent Expedition Arc
- Purely hype and setup for future arcs. The most exciting build up in the series.
6. Hunter Exam Arc
- Fun tests that serve to introduce and understand our main characters. Ending with a great twist. Good first arc.
5. Heavens Arena Arc
- Introducing and explaining the greatest power system in shonen. Solid fights through the arc and one of the best fights Hisoka vs Gon.
4. Greed Island Arc

Awesome concept for an arc, introducing best girl Biscuit, good final fights against the Bombers. One of the best part of the entire series the dodgeball game.
3. 13th Chairman Election Arc
- Killua and Alluka against their family, Hisoka vs Gotoh, The Zodiacs introduccion, Leorio punching Ging, Gon and Ging finally meeting, Pariston trolling the entire election, and Gon and Killua goodbye.
2. Yorknew Arc
- Introduction of the best villain group, Troupe massacring the mafia, Uvo vs Kurapika, Uvo requiem, Chrollo vs Zoldycks, unpredictable and unique way to end the arc.
1. Chimera Ant Arc
- Darkest and most complex arc, most terrifying villains in the series, shocking deaths, greatest cast of new characters, amazing development/characterization, and the most epic and emotional climax in HxH. The slowest and weakest points in this arc didn't bother me that much it just enhance my attachment for the characters and the build up for the climax/invasion of this arc.

Honorable mention: Succession War Arc (it isn't completed, so I'm not ranking it)

I honestly believe York New is one of the best arcs in all of Shonen. It was just so entertaining

7. Zoldyk Family arc - Honestly kind of dragged for me. I liked the butler and it was a decent introduction to the Zoldyks but I found myself wanting it over pretty quickly.
6. Hunter Exam - Not at all bad just mostly stereotypical shounen. Still a lot of fun yet it merely exists to set up the world and characters.
5. Chairman arc - I really like Alluka and found that she really improved Killua's character a lot for me. The politics of the Hunter organisation was also interesting to witness.
4. Heavens Arena - Good fun tournament style arc and a great way to introduce Nen.
3. Greed Island - Mostly ranks this high because of how brilliant the whole Razor segment was. The idea of the arc being an isekai within a shounen series was also fascinating.
2. Yorknew City - Brilliant in just about everything it does. The Phantom Troupe are a great set of characters and the Kurapika arc is intense.
1. Chimera Ants - My all time favourite arc in all of anime. Fantastic villains, brilliant themes, mind blowing fights and a real sense of dread and threat throughout. Chimera Ants is perfect for me.

The Yorknew arc is so damn good, my favorite by far too. I liked the chimera ant arc but the stupid amounts of narration and drawn out content puts it lower for me

York new was my favorite too. best use of nen abilities throughout the whole series IMO

York New, for sure. It's the one arc I could watch repeatedly over a short period of time and not get bored from start to finish.

Yorknew is one of my favourite arcs in anime in general and certainly in hxh

I really like the Greed Island arc also . Really unique and fun to watch Gon and Killua enjoying and training some happy moments along with Bisky also as after this arc the series turned really dark.

It's weird seeing pokkle in the arc then fast forward to him getting his brains picked through at the start of the chimara ant arc

I agree. Chimera ants had higher highs but Yorknew was more consistent throughout and had better pacing.
