Good question, 1:25 The reasons are multiple, some people in leave military and are burned out, they might have PTSD or injuries that maybe physically healed some, but left emotional and mental trauma, then it is so easy to drink and ride that pride of service as a reason to go fishing, take it easy, pretty much resign to retired lifestyle. For others, they had discipline prior to military service, that keeps them working and going, like the Bible teaches stay busy, work. Really it's all different as all are individuals. Another thing is there are predators and jealousy when you get into Civilian world, tons of women chase the uniform for money, they cheat, ripp you off and break your hearts, then treat you like crap, on top of your service PTSD, how's that supposed to make ya feel ? But some people open doors for you after you served and give you breaks, it really is random luck, either way.

Initially I gave Jocko a lot credit and just assumed he had vast knowledge about life. But after hearing this clip, I see now that his knowledge is very narrow (motivating people and leading people), which may be why he’s so good at it.
