No. It should be less until they hire more qualified teachers.

I dated a schoolteacher she was paid $45000 a year but when you add a schoolday(8-11 hours) plus grading and preparing lessons at home(3-5 hours) grading tests(2-4 hours) so practically would be working a 15-20 hour day with a 30 min break(which is still supervising children during recess) this is something I’ve heard from many of her colleagues and friends who when balanced out it comes to 12-15/hr which is the same you can make with no degree working retail, customer service and in the food service industries

Teachers are getting paid to much if the student graduation rate does not improve.

No. And until someone has a real solution. This isn't news

For an easy part time job, yes they are getting more than a fair salary

I've been a teacher for 12 years and I make 85k per year for working 10 months a year plus multiple 3 day weekends, 2 weeks off in Xmas, 1 week off in spring break, 10 sick days per year that I can use whenever i want and they accumulate as I now have 59 of them...I also work from 820 to 230 and 50 minutes of that time is a prep and 40 minutes is a lunch, 25 minutes of it are passing periods...yes I do stay longer and don't leave at exactly 230 but I stay no later than 430 and honestly, as I've taught the same class for 10 years I could easily leave at 230 if I didn't want to do the best job I could for the kids...

The job is markedly harder than people think and it's not for the faint of heart...trust me I'll advocate for higher pay...but from my perspective, I think I'm compensated more than fairly...

Our salary schedule at year 25 tops at 101k also...I'll be 45 by that time and the top salary will probably be raised by that point as well...

Some states are worse than others tho for sure, I'm in CA

Check out how Finland treats their teachers! And see how rational, happy and safe that society is!

Glad I’m nearing the end of my career- no one is entering this profession any longer. I do not recommend it. I do worry for our future though. Kids today are not very self-motivated and people having the most kids are not our best and brightest adults. My parents with 5 kids are on welfare and barely literate if at all. America is one big dumb country!

when and how can we get rid of radical usless so call teachers who just milking their position? how do we stop colleges form over charging for classes? That is the biggest problem for families and estudents.

60k a year is enough. Because a parrot or a recording device can do a public teachers job and you should pay for a tutor if your child is mentally deformed. Your problems shouldn't be societies problems and equity is not the same thing as equality and equity makes the standard of living worse for everyone to bring up a small % of the population whose existence is a literal luxury.

Hmmm??
Thought they did it to help kids??
They knew upfront how much a teacher makes. Didn't they??

Why are teachers hiding their agenda? Like in some states where they asked parents to sign waivers saying that they will not listen in on their kids online classes

It is heart-wrenching that low wages for teachers seems to be prevalent--very sad! Teachers need to be well-compensated & more appreciated.

Fix the following things for public school teachers: 1) Address the disrespect from children and parents. Why does a teacher have to deal with "classroom management"? In China they know how to handle "rogue" kids and "disrespecting" parents. We need that system here. Teachers (and nurses!) deserve the same utmost respect as doctors and dentists and if kids/parents can't give that, they can homeschool their kids (and still pay their taxes). 2) More support from admin and less "micro-managing". 3) No more than 20 kids in any class and no more than 5 classes in total (high school). 4) The school should financially fully support a teacher who wants to go for a MA (on the condition that the teachers stays within the district for x amount of years) 5) Separate offices for teachers, just like in higher ed. If these issues are fully addressed and pay is increased in those areas where it is deemed really too low( Arizona!!), you won't have a teachers shortage. Because it is not all about money, it is about respect and a good workable environment. Teachers retirement is excellent and tenure is great, but not if you are being spit at or a chair is thrown at you (or a bullet)

Yes increase pay, but that isn't the end of it. Be more supportive, decrease their none teaching work load, etc. People forget that many places give them life time pensions, so our tax money already goes to pay for that. Lastly, paying more doesn't mean better outcomes. So I'm willing to pay someone more if they are providing better quality to justify the extra cost.

Let's see. Pro athletes even the last man on the roster of basically any Major League sport make more than teachers. Now the purpose that they serve is to give the gamblers an outlet and to feed the adrenaline junkies whereas teachers actually shape Young minds. So I would say make up your own mind 😏
