23 minutes to save 2 years worth of college is a steal, thank you.

06:20 graduating high school early can really be a mixed bag if you don’t go into it with a plan. I graduated as a sophomore after failing my freshman year (distracted by video games and girls) and I feel like I seriously missed out on the high school experience. My local community colleges wouldn’t admit me without parental consent so I ended up being directionless for two years until I turned 18. Really figure out what you want to do and what your viable options are before you put in the work to graduate early and find yourself stuck just because you’re a minor. In hindsight there was a lot that I could have done like online ACE credits, but I was unaware of options at the time.

I eventually enlisted into the military and it was hands-down the best decision I could have made. I earned well over 60 ACE credits through military training and only had to do some writing classes to get my associates. Now I’ve got the next seven years of housing and tuition paid-for through military benefits.

I graduated high school a semester early by taking a college class over the summer at a community college during my junior year of high school. I got to start college early and was able to spread out my credits widely. This made my course load pretty low and let me get a 3.72 GPA with very less effort.

If I could go back and do it again, this is what I would do. I would have gotten my GED at 16, attended community college until I was 18, and graduated university at 20. Would have worked great in my favor because I didn’t do great on the ACT’s in high school, so they put me in remedial math classes in college. I have a B.S. in physics, but it took me longer to complete because of that bullshit.

To add more to the Dual Enrollment option. Some online colleges allow students to enroll into Sophia Learning and Straighterline programs. They are low-cost classes that equal college credit for a course. As long as you pass with a C or above it transfers in as a full class completed. It's a great option and honestly easier than an actual class. You pay a monthly membership to take the courses. If I remember correctly around $89. You can complete a class in a few weeks and some classes can be finished in days. Great option to finish up your general education classes as well!

I only shaved one year off of college by taking college classes in highschool. Now I'm currently a college sophomore majoring in accounting/business analytics certificate

Another thing I'd like to point out is that if you can teach yourself AP calculus, AP stats or any other AP classes, you can talk to your school and they can allow you to take the AP exam without spending a semester taking the class

I took AP and Dual enrollment classes and when I graduated high school, I was a college sophomore (credit-wise), I highly recommend it! Not only are you saving money but you’re also cutting down time.

I'm a freshman in college. When I was in high school, I took some dual-enrolled classes but, I had no idea what CLEP was! Definitely going to look into that now. Thanks Shane!

From someone who’s done many of the things you mentioned in this video, I absolutely agree!! Something else, taking mini-terms have helped me a ton. I love taking 7 weeks courses opposed to 16 😊

As a former AP student, the ap exams are worth it 100%. I shaved off a whole semester of bullshit general education classes. Pro tip: you can sign up for ap exams even if ur not taking the class. I would defined recommend signing up for the Art History and Human Geography exams as they are rather easy and actually cover a lot of gen ed classes when you get a 3 or more

9:28 You can just take an AP exam without the class even if your high school doesn’t offer it. I took 6 my senior year and passed 5 even though I took only 2 classes. It’s absurdly difficult and not ideal but possible.

The reason why not many people do dual enrollment is because it's very stressful when you're in high school especially when you have other extracurriculars and since taking college classes are much harder it's very hard to balance it out with high school work. Those that are able to do it usually from what I know of barely got any sleep and were always tired.

In my experience university classes have been much easier than highschool. That may just be because I was in several clubs, did dual enrollment, and had mostly AP classes.

In my school in Sacramento California, we offer so many classes paired with our Community college. I’ve already took general Ed classes like psychology, sociology and others

I did dual enrollment and finished with 46 credits my senior year of hs and finished my AA 18-19 (had to take one more class this summer) and now I’m 19 half way through my bachelors and I may finish by the age 20-21 depending on how many classes I take each semester. In my area we had many opportunities like collegiate where you graduate with your associates degree then you have only 2 years after to finish your bachelors, I would’ve done it but you had to know what you wanted to do, so what I did was finish all my gen Ed’s by senior year and then start after. It’s honestly the best I loved dual enrollment because you fulfilled both your highschool and college credits, and it runs by semesters instead of wasting your time with a class that took all year

I did 75 ects this semester (at an Austrian university) which translates to roughly 37, 5 credits in the US. This goes to show that you can achieve whatever you want by working hard.

2:54 that’s just not true. I have taken 4 ap exams without taking their corresponding courses. If you want to take an ap exam without taking an ap course speak with your counselor about it
