The 2023 Nissan Z has nearly arrived in Australia and today, Chasing Cars journalist John Law takes a first look at the Z. Set to compete against the Toyota Supra, Ford Mustang, Porsche Cayman and other two-door RWD sports cars, the Nissan Z starts at $73,000 here in Australia and uses a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine.

Should you order a new Nissan Z? Will it be worth the cash?

Prices of cars are getting ridiculous.

60k starting point would have been sweet! Another car aimed at car collectors instead of the more common folk. Its using an existing engine, surely they could have priced it cheaper.

I’ll be requesting my deposit back, the price is ridiculous. We’re getting ripped off again on pricing compared to the US.

Missed the mark with the pricing once you add on-roads. Think about who used to drive Z cars. It's not people with 80k+ of disposable.

Thanks for an Australian, sneak peak perspective. As a 350Z 35th anniversary owner (in yellow), I do like the Proto version you sampled. The price seems about right, so hopefully we will see a few on the road this year.

Dam this is a good looking car but not many people can afford 80k for a niche sports car.

It looks better than everything since the 300zx. I like the throwbacks.

It's not called zed. You are not a real car enthusiast.

Doesn't look like much for $90k, has a pretty ordinary stance, handbrake on the wrong side.

$80k plus onroad costs for a base Z! Withdrawing my deposit. Price gauging at its best. There is not $80k worth of value in that car.

Missing heads up display, wireless phone charger, sunroof, ventilated seats, dual zone air conditioning, brembo brakes, with no name "summer" tyres and an average sounding exhaust on the manual version.

My $65k last generation commodore ssv redline has all the above and self parks!

wait so would that make the car around 50K in USD?

What’s with this guys hands? I was getting dizzy just watching.

Kudos to Nissan to make a manual, and personally I think the pricing is sensible for what it is and given the market... One thing though - that lag on the infotainment system.

If I didn't have 2 kids and a dog, I would swap my N for this in a heart beat (maybe...)

I'll just get the Mazda 6 Atenza wagon instead. Wagons are cool. Plus turbo. Plus nappa leather. Plus Bose.

How does the Z fall anywhere near the GRZ twins like you mentioned? It's literally $35k more 😂😂

The engine is straight out of an Infinity Q60. Same output and everything.

I have put a deposit on this car, but at that price i could buy a 2017-2018 rs3 sedan, 2017 bmw m2, 2015-2016 bmw m3 or m4.
Same or better peformance with twice the amount of luxuries.... oh and its a european car 😎

Im on the fence.
