Paper Mario Villains: Evil to Most Evil

The Mario series isn’t exactly known for its complex storytelling. Most games in the series boil
down to little more than stopping Bowser and saving Peach. The Paper Mario series is a
welcomed departure from this. The first three games have very detailed stories with tons of
characters, and even the more recent ones have some memorable faces.

Honestly, DooPliss could’ve been an extremely evil villain, he took Mario’s identity and could’ve smeared and destroyed his reputation beyond repair. But he didn’t.

i thought dimento would be most evil. he wanted to destroy multiple dimentions. It's hard to beat that.

Correction: Count Bleck comes from the Tribe of Darkness, not the Tribe of Ancients. That's a different tribe entirely.

I feel like Beldam definitely should have been in the Evil Masterminds list. She explicitly states that she’s the one who created the rumor of a treasure behind the Door, so that explorers will find the Crystal Stars and open it, thus releasing the Shadow Queen. She even sought out Grodus and the X-Nauts to use them and their resources. She’s smarter than she looks.

I personally think the other guy's list was more accurate; Dimentio wanting to destroy the entire Multiverse and not just the planet is clearly a lot more evil than Shadow Queen. And also, King Olly and Bleck both had redeeming qualities, especially Bleck. Bleck's motive was more so out of depression and loneliness rather than out of "Evil Mastermind" plans. Beldam was also the true Mastermind of Thousand Year Door, while Grodus had much more ego, Beldam was much more cruel especially towards Vivian.

Personally, I think Dimentio is worse. Mainly because, yes, we don't know exactly what his "perfect world" would look like, safe to say where he gets his pleasures from: torture, killing, manipulation, and sadistic tendencies. That his perfect world would be only for him to destroy over and over again until he gets bored.

The Smorg was originally a creature sent by Beldam of the Shadow Sirens in order to stop Mario from reaching Poshley Heights. That was the intended route with them but the idea got scrapped due to time so they ended up being this boss that came out of nowhere. They probably would've ranked a bit higher if Nintendo still went with that route.

Wait, I thought Merlon turned Timpani into Tippi because she was inches from death, and that Bleck just assumed she died.

That's funny. There's another Mario villain video on this channel where Bleck is placed in the redeemed category as one of the kindest. King Ollie had a similar situation I believe, with his assessment reduced. Grodus wasn't even mentioned, and I believe Dimensio was placed as more evil than the Shadow Queen. So that's quite a lack of consistency.

My List: most to least evil main villain
1. Dimentio (Wants to destroy everything to possibly create his “perfect” world in the void)
2. Olly (Wants to commit genocide of all toads for having the equivalent of a bad, but very hidden birth mark)
3. Count Bleck (Wants to destroy everything due to personal tragedy, but makes up for it with an arc)
4. Grodus ( Just wants to conquer the world and probably would not hesitate to use any means necessary)
5. Bowser ( Just wants to take over the world, but has limits specifically avoidance of genocide unlike all the other villains on this list)
Please comment down below if you have a different interpretation or agree with my list.
Also I did not list the shadow queen because she is the literal incarnation of all evil in the paperverse

I think you should have included the koopalings. Personally, I would put them under "servants of evil" right after the snifits. (They're above Bowser Jr., Kamek and Bowser since much like Kammy, we've never seen them do good deeds.)

i agree with most of the spm rankings, especially with mimi being that high! but i really do believe dimentio shouldve been number 1, he literally kills luigi in an empty world and says "nobody will find the body" (not verbatim of course) and he actually kills the whole posse and *sends them to hell* (minus peach) and his goal to destroy the whole multiverse wasnt even motivated by grief like bleck was, he really was just that much of an ass. thats just my opinion tho!! i loved this video and loved hearing ur thoughts on all the villains! this is the first video ive seen from ur channel n will definitely tune in in the future 💛

What brought back to light in this video for me was TTYD and SPM really did an amazing job of creating character arcs and providing storytelling for the heroes, neutrals & villains (I mean cmon, Bobbery's backstory?!)
So while yeah there's a divide with OG-paper Mario and the newer titles, all I'll say is that the those two titles specifically did amazing work in creating a rich backstory that intertwined really well with most characters you encountered.

Let's not forget that the Shadow Queen literally slaughters the entire audience in the middle of her boss fight just to restore her HP.
