Folks…she DOES get paid per hour. She can’t even ring in orders unless she clocks in on the computer. Some states still pay servers $2.13 per hour base pay. Since it all goes towards taxes, paychecks are ZERO. She made $200 plus in tips that she is taking home end of shift. Considering she probably worked five hours, she averaged abt $40 per hour.

By law they have to give you an hourly wage, granted, it’s peanuts, but still

Was a server for years when I was younger. It's excellent money for a young person and if you're clean and pretty you get big tips, because everybody likes somebody who's clean bright and beautiful to serve them food, being fast and able to solve problems letting things roll off your back and just being personable, is key😊

Yes you get the hourly 2.13. Then you keep cash tips (technically) you have to report them at the end of your shift and if it’s less than 12% of your expected tips by the guest that paid in cash, a manger has to clock you out. The number she shows at the end the 150 something, is her take home from her credit card tips, including the ones she had to put in (the signed slips). At that point the % that goes to busier and bartender has already been taken out. And then what you report from your cash tips affects what you get paid on paycheck because they do a percentage thing for tipping out busier and bartender from it as well. For those saying this is helping them decide to work at an Olive Garden or not. Making this much is heavily dependent on where you are located. At my north east Texas location, it ranges from literally $27 in tips to $160. Some communities do not tip as well especially the big groups.

As someone who works in a Starbucks kiosk where the tips get split between coworkers depending on how many hours you work, and they don’t have a method of tipping when someone pays with card, our tips are just cash shoved into a jar, this makes me wanna go work at Olive Garden 😭

If you make 200+ dollars without even working 8 hours while trade workers make half that you DO NOT need an hourly wage. This is an entry level job the only requirment is to be 18 and have a diploma.

To be clear she does get paid hourly it's just the state minimum and that mostly covers the state and income taxes so their take home is higher than most hourly entry level jobs.

Minimum wage for a tipped employees is set by each individual state. . . Servers rarely see pay in a check from the hourly "wage" because the money is used to pay Federal/State/Local taxes based on the amount of tips made during the shift. . .

I'd take free bread sticks as a tip lol

What she’s also not mentioning is she has to give a percentage to the busboy’s and others that make her job easier… and of course she gets paid by the hour. Min plus tip.. it’s just a figure of speech

Anyway…. Haha after reading all those raggedy ass comments 😂 - coming from someone who worked at olive garden and understands the culture you must be an AMAZING waitress for them to be even giving you that amount of tables in a shift. Keep killing it girl and keep posting videos don’t let this shi get to you
