In South Korea, they don't give you money because they give you the gift of no conscription lol

Clarification: Kazakhstan's 3-room apartment is not equal to a 3-bedroom living space. It's just 3 rooms plus a bathroom (sometimes separate shower and sink room) and a kitchen. A 1-room apartment is basically a studio.

While Norway does not offer price money for winning medals, there is a stipend system to support the athletes.

In the Philippines, the government incetivizes its athletes for winning Olympic medals, which is WAY bigger than the host country France & the US. $200K for the gold medalists, $100K for the silver medalists & $40K for the bronze medalists. In the case of the country's 1st Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, she only received around a million bucks from the government, the private sectors, the individual persons.

For France it's more now in 2024: 80k€ (87k$) for gold, 40k€ (43k$) for silver and 20k€ (22k$) for bronze. A bit misleading to use the Tokyo 2020 Olympics number as the Paris 2024 Olympics are ongoing

Even if you adjust those numbers to their respective currencies, that’s still wild.

In the US, for wrestling, they’ve been giving guys 250K to stay in wrestling and not go into MMA or even pro wrestling. The unfortunate thing is that when you’re a wrestler, all you’re ever going to experience is poverty. Just look at the opening scene in Fox Catcher.

In North Korea, athletes are required to win a certain amount of medals. If they win no medals, they get arrested and punished by the government. Sometimes, people were sent to prison for life or face execution. It is really sad.

Actually, Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 adds prize money to the apartment. For example, Gold medal winners get around 250 000 $ (US dollars). Silver 150 000$ and bronze 75 000$. Sometimes numbers can be a little different depending on sports but these numbers are fairly accurate, right now. As, Eldos Smetov, gold winner in men's judo will receive above mentioned prize money. Also, there is cash money for fourth and fifth place. Most sports have hard time developing in our country, so we are proud and supportive of our athletes!🎉 Алға Қазақстан!
