Ahh that green jewel carpet in the second pic is sooo nostalgic to me. When I was 10 or so, we moved into a house that had carpeting just like that, and we all hated it. This was in 2007 or so, and carpet like that was far out of style. Not only that, but if you have dark carpet, you know that everything, and I mean everything, shows up on it. Crumbs, dust, dog hair, if you can spill it, the carpet will pick it up. It didn't help that our family dog had white fur, and she was a shedder. Vacuuming took twice as long as it would with different carpet, and one of my chores was to vacuum the stairs, which also happened to be one of the dog's favorite spots to lie down. It took at least three passes with the vacuum to make it look presentable, and Lord forbid it's not spotless when we had company.

It took my parents 16 years, but they finally tore out the last of that stuff in 2023. All of us were happy to see it go. I'd never put carpet like that in my house ever again, but man I can't help but be fond of it. Just please, please, please, don't ask me to vacuum it

You know why images like these are always so identically uncanny. Off white walls and no windows. And when theres windows they're either pitch black or bright white. These are pocket spaces. These are oversized hall closets. I swear backroom images gave me nightmares with pitch black outside while inside an uncanny house
