Liminal Spaces (2000’s Childhood)

Показать описание
Liminal spaces often create a sense of nostalgia triggered in your mind from early childhood memories mostly ranging from mid 90’s to early 2000’s. They can make you feel nostalgic yet utterly disturbed at any given time to any unnerving image.

To be in a Liminal Space means to be on the precipice of something new but not quite there yet.

liminal spaces are important because of their ability to construct their own values and ideologies relating to a particular time period in history and then to transpose these values to a time belonging to their own experiences

I can’t describe how I feel when I see liminal spaces, it’s like a nostalgic, calming, throw back, with sadness, anger and scared at the same time.

Never been in a near death experience, but this gives me the “life flashing before your eyes” feeling.

This makes me feel not only nostalgic but incredibly sad aswell. Like this is all that remains of my childhood, now just merely images permanently frozen in time. Images from a time in which I can never return. Images from a time that no longer exists except only in still images, videos and so on. It's like being intensely homesick for a home that is no longer there. This time will always be special to me and I will treasure it always 💗

Rediscovering old school color schemes from these montages have inspired me to paint my future dream house with them. I'm sick and tired of modern-day home decor involving bland colors and basic-styled furniture.

Im mad that the world grew up, everything used to be so much more colorful, less depressing. And now im depressed all the time, ive been constantly dissociating for the last 5 or 6 years, these videos are the only way to remember any semblance to my childhood

i don't even feel sad when I see these images, I feel happy knowing I got to experience this at some point in my life.

The minimalist aesthetic of today has gotten rid of all the vibrant colors from the early 2000s. Even popular logos have become more dull to fit the current trends.

Something about these images perfectly encapsulate what it's like to be a kid, specifically around like 4 or 5 years old. There's like a bit of enthusiasm and cheerfulness but also a sense of unknown and fear. Plus I feel like these are the kinds of places that you'd think about a lot as a child, for one reason or another, maybe because it brought a really happy feeling, or made you scared or sometimes just because it's interesting to you.

something about carpeted suburb houses just makes me feel comfortable, one photo of a living room/bedroom can contain so much life and memory in it. just amazing

As a 2001 baby, all I can leave is this quote: “We had a perfect and glorious civilization, what the hell did we do to it? “

As someone who was born in 2007, I can confirm that these pictures are very nostalgic. Looking at these pictures make me relive childhood memories and playplaces, but it also relaxes me.

◾Born in 2005 here, I can relate to all of my gen Z brothers and sisters. We will miss this feeling dearly like other generations did with their own places.◾

No matter where the world goes from here, being our generation and having this childhood was worth it.

I always feel a sense of comfort looking at these places because i had some of my best childhood memories at some of these places. It's no use looking at what could of been, but reminiscing about what has been is the best/saddest feeling you can have.

0:31 I’ve been there in real life. It’s in a mall nearby where I live. I wouldn’t call it so much nastolgic, but it makes me wonder about the mall back when it was much more popular. Back when my mom would go in her teens. And now I’m growing up as well, the mall still stays right where it’s always been.

Liminal spaces always bring me back to my childhood. To be honest, those early years weren't all sunshine, especially after my stepfather entered the picture. Yet, what I revisit isn't tied to a specific memory but rather a broad emotional experience. It's the sunsets in backyards on summer evenings, the scent of a small swimming pool wafting through the air, or encountering a mysterious hallway in a place beyond my young understanding. Back then, my world was a mix of mystery, fear of the unknown, and my friend's fenced backyard feeling like the scariest, largest place imaginable. Even venturing to the distant tree felt like a daring adventure. The colors of the sky, the clouds, and the sunsets were alien yet awe-inspiring. These memories, existing solely in my mind, occasionally resurface in small, random fragments. When I catch a glimpse or a whiff, there's a faint sense of familiarity, a recognition of a unique nostalgic memory—each experience holding its own charm.

It’s like I’m transported back to the mid 90s but no one is around they all disappeared and I’m left with my nostalgia
