but touch, pressure and temperature are transmitted by same type of nerve fibres (A delta and C fibres) that transmit pain !!! same diameter and same speed !!!!????

IMO, It doesn't explain the theory at all! All it does is explaining the mechanoreceptor (touch receptor) and nociceptor (sensory receptor) "pathways" to the brain. Where is the "gate" in this explanation? The "gate" metaphor is a part of the name for the theory for a reason.
