Wow thank you so much! Most other tutorials require me to make the whole world black, and the only thing visible is the ray but what fun is that? This tutorial is so simple and to the point. Thanks!

I made a cube as instructed in the video, unplugged volume scatter in the world shader, and somehow the volumetrics settings on the cube's shader had no effect on anything.

why not use a mist pass combined with the sun beams node? You can even add a texture onto a color ramp between the render result and where you would hook up the mist pass. I use a mix color node to combine the mist/beams setup with my denoise/glare and lens distortion (when using it). Volumetrics is ram heavy and some people’s computers cant handle it well. But i found this option to work well with stills particularly.

Simple to understand and really effective as usual. Relevant. Question, what's your Blender Version ? Actually, on a Mac platform with Blender 3.1.2, it is needed to change the colour white from the volume scatter node from white to a really dark grey to start seeing an effect. Very low samples for the anisotropic parameter is required also..

Did they change volume recently in cycles? I remember having a bad time with volume scatter and having it look bad. Now this looks great?!

Got a problem, instead of sun rays I got bright background and nothing else, the camera is inside of cube.
