Its a useful but little-known fact that you can manually sort rows in a pivot table however you like! This example shows you how.

How to manually sort rows in a pivot table in Microsoft Excel
1. Left-click in a cell which contains the row that you want to reorder
2. Move the mouse right to the top or bottom edge of this cell until the cursor looks like 4 arrows pointing outwards
3. Click and drag your row up or down
4. Notice how when we do this it changes the order for all instances (e.g. moving ‘House’ above ‘David’ for client ‘GE’ in our example, also does the same for client ‘Tra’)
5. Note that manually sorting these fields will undo any sorting we currently have on that field (e..g sorting by value, etc.)
