Lay off always on Friday after lunch time, as tradition. Roll-call then out/escort by security (depends on job level). I went thru this before, many years ago. I knew long before the company meeting that I will not be on layoff list – good employees always WANTED. House Cleaning is a MUST. My 1-man opinion.

Actually, layoffs are best done on Mondays so the person can avoid stewing about it over the weekend. On a Monday layoff, businesses are open, psychologist offices open...people can still feel productive and "get busy looking"
