I’m very successful, I was an army ranger, I can fight, my marriage is still strong after 20 years. I heard this song the first time and cried. I miss my dad. Everything I have or accomplished, he helped me. He chose the military for me, even my job. He led me into accounting (I’m a CPA), he put me in fighting. He instructed me as a boy on what marriage is and taught me about women. I miss my dad. These are his accomplishments in me.

When my Dad was in late stage cancer, we took him in to care for him. As he got so bad, I would even have to bathe him like I did for my kids when they were little. That deep sorrow that happens when the man whose strength you always stood in awe of becomes the one you must care for and protect was not lost on me. Something clicks in you, and a page is forever turned. I miss him every day.
