For the first time, SpaceX used a Super Heavy rocket booster to launch a Starship upper stage, from Starbase in Texas, on 20 April 2023, at 13:30 UTC (08:30 CDT). According to SpaceX, Starship is a fully reusable transportation system, designed to carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars and beyond.

Look at all those unlit first stage engines. Yet it still moved. A lot of redundancy there.

While I appreciate the effort and the launch was fairly spectacular... this is a technological dead end. Starship makes no sense.

It’s a completely brand new rocket, this can be very much expected. Compared to the SLS, which used decades old shuttle parts.

Was not hard to see everything was not perfect. Looks to me like a self destruct . Stages did not separate, you could see them driving the craft trying to force separation .

The launch can be considered successful. For its size, with several engines not running. Moreover, the strength is excellent, it spins and does not break.
