We need a sequel to this lock that has NFC and UWB support, and digital keys that can be added to Google Wallet.

If the lock wont connect to your connect on your wifi network, set up a mobile hotspot. Connect the nest connect to the hotspot and try to pair them again. You have to push button on the inside of the lock to pair it to the connect before you scan the qr to pair them. Lots of missing instructions or advice that just doesnt work out there.

I'm not sure if it's compatible with the new Google Home app.

Mine says I can use August app but I'm not successfully connecting. Amazon never mentioned I'd need to purchase another product in order to connect.

I have just ordered one of Amazon and I have a metal door, will it work or does it have to be a wooden door I'm guessing it's okay but just wanted to confirm?

For those having issue connecting the Nest Connect to the Nest App, I finally did it by
1). Turning on airplane mode
2). Turning on wifi
3). Turning on bluetooth

I feel stupid now. I followed the Nest instructions to adjust the deadbolt length and inserted it, not really understanding what it meant by retracted. Once I was aware of my mistake, I didn't know what it meant or how to retract it as it went against what the paper instructions stated. Needless to say there was confusion and it added time to the install.

The video from Yale, shows what the instructions mean by retracted and to do it before you adjust the length. So I thought I'd share incase anyone else gets in to the same spot of bother. Got there in the end :D

Does this still need the Nest Connect or Nest Guard to work? I can't find those devices for sale anymore..

In google home, go to devices and set priority for an hour to the nest connect. Took a long time and a couple factory resets to figure that one out.

The longer I own this lock the more I dislike it. I got it for Christmas and since January I have had to go through the installation process FOUR times because the Nest Connect and Nest Yale lock keep dropping off my WiFi network. When that happens you have to start all over again with installing the Nest Connect first, then the Yale Lock. In order to do this you MUST remove the yale lock from the door because the button needed to connect Nest Connect and the Yale Lock is on the BACK of the lock. Which engineer decided this would be the best place for the rest button. I am going to post here the REAL way to do this. First, you CANNOT install the lock to the door with the batteries in place. So, why tell us not to install with the batteries in place. You can't. The batteries cover the mounting screw holes. Your Nest Yale lock should have come with at least the Nest Connect device. If it didn't then you'll need to get one. That's the first issue with this installation. The Nest Connect is difficult, I do mean difficult, to get installed to the Nest app. You'll spend 30 minutes on this step. Once you have the Nest Connect installed, now you can start installing the Nest Yale lock. Be sure you have set aside about an hour for this step, minimum. Getting it attached to your door is the easy part. Getting it connected to the Nest Connect is not easy. Don't forget !! You'll need to access that button on the back of the yale lock, so if you've already installed it on the door, take it off. Is the blue light on the Nest Connect still on and glowing steady? Chance are it's green now. So, start over installing the Nest Connect to your Nest App. Are you getting the picture here? If you want to buy this product be prepared for a lot of frustration about every 30 days. The single most difficult part to all this is remembering how to re-install everything each time this happens. So, keep a good copy of the instructions taped to the door so they'll be nice and handy in 30 days.

I installed myself and I'm not handy AT ALLL!!!! I had to be a bit creative bc things weren't lining up and the strike plate whole for the deadbolt wasn't deep enough to fully extend deadbolt😪😪😪😪

Can I connect this directly to SmartThings? Do I still need the interface piece if I add the Zigbee or Zwave modules?

I have a lot of NEST products, as lately bought their outdoor NEST IQ. But pay U$ 249 for a door lock, that as someone pointed out here, doesn't have a physical backup key, no thanks. I love the NEST quality and attention to details, but they are most of the time away too expensive. Guess they have a version 2 with backup key, the same way they have now the IQ, since the first camera was kind of "joke", as you need to open a hole of the size an "elephant" to have the power cable inside.

Did anyone try this in Europe? We can buy it on eBay for example, but will it work or will Google complain it won't activate it outside the US?
