Autoimmune conditions is a subgroup of interstitial lung disease. Those most commonly associated with this subgroup of ILDs are rheumatoid arthritis, systemic sclerosis, dermatomyositis or polymyositis, lupus,,and Sjögren’s syndrome. Autoimmune diseases commonly associated with lung disease can also be referred to as connective tissue disease.
Pulmonologist Dr. Daniel Dilling, of Loyola University Medical Center, a PFF Care Center site, notes that management of autoimmune ILD should be coordinated between the rheumatologist and pulmonologist.
The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF) offers essential programs and resources for people with pulmonary fibrosis. The mission of the PFF is to mobilize people and resources to provide access to high quality care and to lead research for a cure so that people with PF will lead longer, healthier lives.
