Has Brian ever not smiled in his life? 😅

He explains complicated topics in a simple way so that the simpletons like me would also understand him. That's genius.❤

I love all these experts going on social media to tell us all what they know. Even if we can't grasp all that was said but we are closer to being more knowledgeable in astronomy. I learned something new here.

Habibi, Assalamu alaikum brother I watch it almost 5 times to understand it, but finally i got it 😂, its a good explanation of parralax error ! ♥️

The dude in that boy band you loved when you were a teenager grew up...and he's actually this guy.

Brian's explanations are the best!

There is no scientist I'd rather have explain something to me then him. He lacks everything I despise about most scientists. Some scientists without name dropping tend to act like theyve always known, inflating their self importance and stroking tf out of their own ego. This guy explains to you with the same wonderment he had when he asked the same question. Awesome

Wow, it's so interesting to think of the measurement in this manner.

So, a little bit o patience and trigonometry is what it takes to measure the distance to the nearby stars?
Fantastic! 👍

Incredible. People need to hear more of this so we can appreciate how incredible life is for all of us

This is "eye" movement is called parallax and if this jump is one arc second in distance then it short form is called a "Parsec" (parallax second) ... bonus: a parsec are about 3.26 lightyears.

and when the angle of the parallax is one second we call that distance a PARSEC

Spoken in layman's language. Thanks Brian.

The really far stars are measured using a type 1a supernova, which is when a what’d dwarf takes too much mass away from a star and then explodes. The luminosity over time follows a very specific curve and we can get distance if we know luminosity and apparent brightness

Still didn’t explain the part on HOW to measure the distance from the stars..

For even bigger eye distance, put one of the "eyes" on a spacecraft and fly away . Voyager did that and recently mesured one star as a test.

Parallax distortion or something like that. I actually only remembered the term when he covered his eyes since that's how I learned what it was. Super neat way to describe it

The measure of someone's knowledge on a subject is how well they can describe it to a layperson.

This dude just made my dumb ass understand this. He is genius.
