Good Nurses are the back bone of a hospital. They often know more then doctors. Great information. I have respect to all nurses, without you guys a hospital would cease to function. ❤

I have never seen this listed, but I believe one or the risk factors for low folate is testosterone replacement therapy. The reason is because testosterone naturally increases RBC production, which can burn through your folate a lot faster than usual. In this case, folate appears low, but RBC/hemoglobin/hematocrit actually goes up (normal for testosterone). MCV will also usually be LOWER.. this is because the body adapts to more RBC. SO, in this case it appears to not be dangerous per se, it's more of an adaptation.

I am not a doctor or med professional, but this is what happened to me and it seems to makes a lot of sense... Supplementing with a good methylfolate is the simple solution... I felt better basically overnight.

Why would we want a patient with anemia to do MMA? Couldn’t they bleed?
