We often think that there is a straight line between ancient texts ( 800 bc) to modern Christianity. We also assume that these texts are facts. In reality they are the point of view of a group of elite people that had an agenda, what ever that may have been. These texts were written in an era when everything was governed by spirits (gods, what ever) We see this from Greek writings like the Iliad and the Odyssey. The outcome of battles was dependent on the favors of the gods. The prophets have a strong voice in the old testament, some with doomsday prophecies. If we came across such a person today, they would be labeled as people with extremists and ignored. Strange in my mind.
