In this do-it-yourself (DIY) video, I teach clever techniques for repairing and fixing damaged plastic by using a soldering iron to fuse the plastic together, I also used a hot glue gun and zip ties to fix the broken plastic parts. These plastic welding methods offer a significantly improved strength and durability to the area the plastic has cracked or broken. I hope you find this video enjoyable of me guiding you through the process of repairing broken or cracked plastic items or tools found in the house hold or work shop. Stay tuned for the next 5-minutes crafts videos!

I find that paperclips work better than screws and washers. For broader areas and to span gaps, patches cut from aluminum window screen work well and can be back-filled. Rather than destroying a hot glue gun with melted zip ties, I use a flat blade on my soldering iron in one hand and feed plastic with my other hand much like stick welding.

Amazing! Plastic things get broke all the time, and you don't always have a replacement.

Dose using the glue gun like that with the zip ties fuk it up in any way. Can it still be used with the glue after that

will the gun be ruined after using zipties? will it be able to work with hot glue again?

With the amount of fixing, I have to wonder. Is it better to just throw away a thing and buy a new one, or procure a set of (sometimes expensive) tools and go on on fixing things. I like the ideas, but just how many of broken thingies do you need before you go out and but a set of pliers, soldering iron, an electric file etc. It's all good when you already have them and I am all for it, we definitely should look for ways to fix things like they used to back in the day instead of simply throwing them away, but gosh, how many of these do actually break on a daily basis to warrant a set of fixing tools.

The real question is, why do you keep breaking your stuff like my son does?

Awesome. Do you have a video on fixing reading glasses? Cracked in the mid section above the nose. TIA

You must use the same polymer as you are repairing
