Mazda 3 Trunk Leak Fixed

2012 Mazda 3 has had moisture in the trunk for a while and has gradually gotten worse with standing water seen in the spare tire compartment.

I could never find a short and simple video showing the problem and fix so I decided to make one.

Failed tail light seals were my problem evident by the water stains coming from the lower bolt holes and water puddling below the tail light seals. The driver side was much worse than the passenger side. I used GE 100% silicone to reseal mine. Do a quick cleaning before applying for the best bond.

I have a 2012 Mazda 3 skyactiv and I have a trunk leak. The water was pulled at the back right when my car was on a slight incline. I am thinking I have the exact same problem as you. Thanks for the video!

you said lay down a bead of silicone on top, where did you put the silicone and also did you buy a new gasket or what all did you do?

I have the same problem with a brand new import but mine is a 2012 hatch back, water leaking in to the tyre compartment, nothing else is wet, just pools in that tyre space.
So fking annoying lol....
