Bro! You're the man! This was the root cause of my problem I figured out with the help of your video. Water was getting in from the side backlight not being sealed correctly. Thanks again, problem fixed!

Remove the rubber plug in the trunk (or drill a hole in it) to allow the water to drain. This is not a 'perfect' fix but it does help to keep things drier.

I am experiencing the same problem. I own a 2007 Mazda 3 and my sunroof has been broken for about 2 years now. Never had the water leak problem until this raining season started. I also live in WA state. Tacoma to be more exact. Were you able to fix the problem completely? Mine definitely seems to be the sunroof drain lines being clogged. I get a trunk where spare tire goes with water and the rear passenger side floor with mold due to damp carpet.

Did you figure out for sure where the water was getting in? I have the same problem, but no leaves or build up like you described.
