Some elements of Shinto or the kami way can be found in Anglo-Saxon and Viking culture as well with reverence for sacred groves of trees, rocks and waterfalls and streams, and so on. Apparently some or maybe all Japanese car manufacturers bless vehicles with a Shinto ritual as they roll off the assembly line. The idea is to bless the people using the car and to spread world peace, tranquility and harmony. I can say that having driven some Toyotas and also having owned a Mazda, made in Japan, I felt that there was refinement in the construction, operation, inluding foot pedals with manual transmission, almost a feminine softness and delicacy to it. I felt, over time that in ways the Japanese are training drivers with their cars to cultivate themselves, train their body and spirit to be more balanced, simply by operating their vehicles, experiencing many hours of driving in these vehicles. I haven't been to Japan but when I visited Norway several times I found myself thinking these are like Norse Samurai. So many elements especially in Rogaland (southwest Norway), gardens, trees, roads, the overall cleanliness and order, even some aspects of house designs. Recently I found a term 'Japandi' for Japanese seeming Scandinavian home decor.

Shintoism has been continueing since BC10000. Jomon era, anscient there existed Shinto in Japan already.
Suppose there exists shinto shrine means Japanese territory. But shinto has not dogma. Chief priest prays with only purification and cleanseing people mind by white paper duster swinging right and left. Purification is the most important demeanor. When people got new baby, parents must visit to shrine with a baby to get purification after 3 months of birthday. The baby's life begins.

Here in NZ nature spirits are called Keehua, in Fiji they are called Tavaro and in Samoa they are called Aitu. They live in forest and caves.👍🇳🇿

Kami can also be equivalent to saying the Universe. Since these gods are forces of nature, not literal people. It’s quite the same as Taoism
