Which is why it's very important to setup ssl. All the super secure password you picked is useless if you broadcast your password and all your synced files to everyone in the internet by accessing your next cloud instance over plain HTTP.

I think you should show how to setup letsencrypt or a self signed certificate, either in this type of tutorials or perhaps make another tutorial that you can refer to from your other tutorials.

I get why you used the snap version of Nextcloud for this video. However, if anyone seeing this is planning to live on the snap, I had issues with some of the addons on the snap version. Pico for example would install but not work. If I'm remembering correctly it had something to do with the way the storage is mounted for the snap. I remember something about not having enough disk space even though the server had tons of space and I traced it down to the way snaps mount to the FS.

Your mileage may vary but that was my experience and as a result I removed the snap and just installed it natively onto the system. Haven't had any serious issues in over a year.

I've just purchased a Synology DS918+ and four WD Red 12 TB drives to put in RAID 10 to serve as my Plex / Nextcloud / etc server. It'll be nice to get that setup.

Last thing (maybe): I have one NC instance running as a Snap in an LXD container, and it's great....but I've not quite figured out how to route external storage through to the NC instance (so all the data handling is done via LXD, but all the data "lives" on an external 2 TB hard drive). Any insight would be totally groovy & much appreciated.

I would be interested in the intricacies of caching and whatnot to make Nextcloud a bit faster. I have been using Nextcloud for quite a while now, got it set up on my VPS and while it works fine for the most part, the web frontend is quite slow. So, if you happen to mess with those things at some point, I would love to see a video about your findings.
