STEPS AND COMMANDS:

"Nextcloud AIO is inspired by projects like Portainer that allow to manage the docker daemon by talking to the docker socket directly. This concept allows to install only one container with a single command that does the heavy lifting of creating and managing all containers that are needed in order to provide a Nextcloud installation with most features included."

NOTE: An edit for this video is processing. Please skip the step where we edit the hosts file. This is no longer needed and can actually cause errors. If you have already done this step and you're troubleshooting, undo this step and restart your containers.

Love your videos man. I've followed your instructions with success and I love the extra detail (securing ssh, time zone info...) you provide. Thanks for helping a brother out.

Great video! Just today morning I was thinking of setting up my own Google Docs instance.
A small tip, when using ssh on cloud servers, it's better to do passwordless ssh, that is, use a certificate. It's much safer since these servers are always probed by AWS scanner bots.

Awesome tutorial thanks for including the security practises most people wouldn't mention it

I recently used your guide to install Nexcloud AIO. I'm very much enjoying it. If you have any additional suggestions for further amping up performance and/or increasing security, I think those would make very nice additional videos. Thanks for your work!

Linode - putting all your data on US servers. No more privacy than the likes of dropbox.

You can also change your hostname in one step by using hostnamectl. It's a systemd thing so it's not for everyone. But it's what I always use.

Thank you for covering this, you're the first one I've seen to cover the AIO installation. It does indeed include a lot of performance improvements; I looked into setting up all the included containers myself to get the same Nextcloud performance as AIO and found it much more complex. Nextcloud AIO simplifies a lot of it; the only other solution I've found that's as easy to setup while including the same performance backend, is the paid version of Nextcloud VM. It would be cool if Linode would also include these high-performance backend features into their one-click Nextcloud deployment.

The only thing I found AIO to be missing is an easy way to install mount the container files on a separate drive. Their documentation suggests moving the entire Docker install to a separate drive, but I don't think that's a very good solution.

Side-note, the step at 15:37 seems like a security risk. If the initial password is visible on a public domain that's not password protected, the instance could be hacked if someone monitors that domain at that moment. You did however show how to change the password soon after, but it would be better not to publicly expose the instance until after you change the password.

I wish you could make a guide on how to self host an email server (send and receive email) and setup nextcloud to use it. That would be amazing

Awesome guide, but I'm not using my domain and want to access my NextCloud locally, what should I use on the initial menu of NextCloud? time in the video 15:46 to setting up as a new instance.
