Fun fact: Youtube never supported 5.1 ever, but will do first on TV's sometime in 2021 and will require a monthly paid sub.
Also. Chrome supports 5.1 sound by default, but YouTube in Chrome have 2.0. This is why this test is in stereo.

youtube does not support 5, 1 and 7.1 surround sound formats, it will play surround speakers sound on front speakers !

I've had this video saved in a playlist for a long time. I can confirm that YouTube used to play this with 5.1 surround (2017). I used to get the LFE channel, and the rear channels were coming from the rear. This is no longer the case on my same setup. One day 5.1 was turned off (turned to stereo only). I was really disappointed. I used to get 5.1 sound from YouTube (Samsung TV, Bose soundbar with rear speakers). I just read something that maybe 5.1 is back. I'll test tonight and update if it's working properly again. If I don't re-post, it's still in stereo only.

A quick update: this works now!
Just listen through a compatible device, such as a chromecast or smart tv.
