The biggest reason of resilience of India is that its a consumption based economy unlike china, korea and japan's export led economy

India's nominal GDP in 2024 = China's nominal GDP in 2008
India's GDP PPP in 2024 = China's GDP PPP in 2014.
We are 16 years behind in terms of nominal GDP and 10 years behind in terms of GDP PPP.
I don't think India will grow as fast as China but in the next 20 years ( perhaps 25 years) we will surely be at China's current economic level.
We need to focus on the large scale expansion of the manufacturing sector ( gladly current government is heavily focused on manufacturing 😇)
As our per capita reaches the upper middle income level from the current lower middle income level, there will be a huge real estate boom... A country with 1.5 billion people with upper middle income can do magic ✨
You know the level of compounding effect will be crazy !
New cities will be established 💥

DW has to stop seeing things from their narrow perspective "fragile coalition" "is federal government doing enough", . these comments come from a very poor understanding of India and its federal structure. And thats precisely why the west will keep underestimating India, and India will keep bringing surprises.

At the end of the day Indias growth is organic. It's not like a ponzi scheme which Americans and Chinese are running. I don't mean to say their economy isn't doing well but there's a lot of paper money there that can vanish anytime with a burst of bubble. India needs to fix a lot of problems but if it does it can become a truly amazing economy

As long as Hinduism is there... India will never go in recession. Hinduism is not just religion but an economic model.

I appreciate DW's perspectives on global affairs, international finance and political developments!
I also follow some of India's international broadcasters to a somewhat lesser degree.
India is definitely a global force in many fields and should not be underestimated!

West has always taken India as 3rd World country.
We have govt before Modi who ruled us as Colony only, After Modi came to power things have changed a lot and lot is coming in future

Prices are increasing and free handouts are being distributed. Example: you pay. 180 USD as gas price to the end user. When the global crude depreciated from 80 USD to 50 USD the government keeps it at 180 USD...the money earned is distributed to the poor as freebies ( both Ruling and Opposition) while middle class suffers..if this is economic resilience then definitions of managing economy is Rob Harry and Pay Peter

Germany has unfortunately not seen India as a strategic partner. Germans tend to be impressed with the order and discipline of China not realizing that that order comes from a repressive regime and is substantially unstable. India’s relative chaotic character is due to the power of it’s people, as evidenced by the results of the latest central/federal elections where the incumbent party lost a lot of ground.

The Indian Rupee has depreciated over the past 45 years, with the federal government undermining everyone’s savings to sustain its so-called economic growth, while wealth remains concentrated in a small number of affluent families.
