I was recently scrolling through eBay when I found this pristine sealed iPod mini from 2004. Having spent 19 years in a box, will this be a blast from the past or a dead iPod in a box... today we'll roll back time and see if 2004 is still in style!

I worked at Apple Retail in 2004. I CANNOT POSSIBLY OVERSTATE how popular these were. We literally COULD NOT KEEP THEM on the shelves. I would work the telephone sometimes and it was a constant stream of calls of people wanting to know if we had some and when we were getting more ("They come randomly and we have no idea, try tomorrow?"). Especially the green ones. If I had to pinpoint a moment where Apple's popularity went white-hot, I would argue it was not the iPhone, but the iPod Mini. That success paved the way for people to actually want an "iPhone" back when that was just a made-up term by bloggers and fanbois.

Luke’s little happy dance when things start working is so hilarious 😂

8:58 “19 years old, being touched for the first time” sounds so wrong without context 😂

I remember a video of an absolutely giddy German couple opening their iPod minis here on the 'tube. The sheer glee was just soul affirming.

That is my most prominent memory of the iPod mini.

I really enjoy your videos specially when you unbox something that's old and watch your reaction, I would literally also be just as happy. This was really enjoyable to watch.

I repaired hundreds of these mini's. Batteries, LCD's, cases, harddisks, clickwheels etc. Later on I upgraded loads of them with CF cards. Think I still have a couple of these lying around. Was a nice litlle machine.

I was 15 when I got the second gen iPod mini. It was my first mp3 player and first Apple device. I was upgrading from a mini disc player. I’ll always have a soft spot for this device

I have that exact iPod. I never took it out of the plastic. I cut through the plastic so I could plug it in, but I never took it off. Had it for years, not a scratch on it!

Luke you got me this time. Your excitement transferred directly to me and I was smiling. I do not do that often. Thanks

I still have mine and it still works! I also still have the packaging AND the belt thingy (which I never used). What a trip down memory lane!
