I recently installed a JVC unit in my 2015 Tacoma and using a 2nd party pre-wired harness I could not get the camera to work. After several calls to the tech department I decided to follow this video. The camera came on and worked perfectly! Thanks for the great instructions.

This worked perfectly on my 2014 Tacoma with a Joying Android head unit. No issues with the camera on 12V. Thanks for the Video!

Just a quick summary for those that may be interested:

After cutting off the backup camera harness:
1. Centre of video cable to red on vehicle
2. Braid of video cable to white + braided cable (with black tape on it) on vehicle
3. 12Volt on Ignition (spliced into my aftermarket harness after detecting 12V with a multimeter) to Black with White marks
4. Backup sense from behind glove box to wire labeled "back" on my head unit harness
5. Put on shoes

Thanks a lot for this. I was able to get my hu working, but couldn't get video for the camera. I had the purple/white wire connected to the wrong spot, had to run it behind the glove box. Your video was the only one that pointed that out. Saved my a bunch of time and frustration.

I retained my camera the hard way. I couldn't find continuity anywhere so I ran the video cable from the back to the front. I did use the step down converter, but it just shows the picture without backup grid lines and the picture is just as grainy as the factory screen. The factory had the grid lines. I'm buying an aftermarket camera and taking that factory junk out. I need the grid lines. They make a direct replacement, but I still won't have the grid if using an aftermarket radio. It will be a pain trying to fit and aftermarket camera, but at least I will have a clear picture with grid lines. I didn't buy a hd resolution monitor to look at a grainy picture. This was for 2010 Infiniti qx56 and there is nothing online telling you which wires to use.

i thought backup camera used 6 v power and you need a 12v converter to integrate it to your head unit? at leas thats what i saw on a different video

The wiring harness you cut isn't that the same wiring for steering wheel control?

I know this is an old video, but I’ve been struggling with this install. Followed the video. When I put the truck in reverse, the headunit triggers the camera screen, but I’m only getting a black screen. I have tried switching the polarity on the camera settings, but that is not working. Any ideas?

Just installed this head unit a week ago. This video helped a lot. However, the purple/white wire from your unit was actually orange on mine and labeled "Back". Maybe on newer units. Otherwise perfect!

Does the head unit receive and decode the canbus signal from the steering angle sensor to move the RGB backup guide line with steering input?

I have a 2014 manual Tacoma. I just installed a pioneer head unit and followed your instructions exactly.... as far as I know. My radio Recognizes the truck is in reverse however the camera footage does not come through. One thing I saw in other instruction videos is that a 12 to 6 V converter was needed since the camera takes 6 votes and the jumper to the red power line is 12 V. Do you know if this could cause the camera not to work? do you have any other advice

So that 24 pin you cut off. My truck doesn't have it. How can I get one?

In the video it looks like the White and Bare cable are also attached to the Red Center Pin Wire of the RCA plug connecting the 3. Is that so?
