|| ABOUT ||
Today, getting what you need is as easy as a trip to the store. From food to clothing, energy, medicine, and so much more, Andy George will discover what it takes to make everything from scratch. His mission is to understand the complex processes of manufacturing that is often taken for granted and do it all himself. Each week he’s traveling the world to bypass the modern supply chain in order to harvest raw materials straight from the source. Along the way, he’s answering the questions you never thought to ask.

I'm curious what the practical impact of banning straws and paper bags is. I did some light skimming before and it seemed like the answer was "basically nothing" because it's so insignificant compared to all the other plastics, and the major contributing factor - over 90% of the garbage in the ocean comes from China and India.

On the other hand, cigarette butts make up the most litter by volume on our streets, so little things certainly add up.

Was kinda wondering about this because I make plastic products at work. One day I was just like dang, I’m making a product that will out-live me and last century’s.

A lot of "biodegradable" are just greenwashing and "compostable" things never make it to the facility they are supposed to be in due to lack of sorting

It would be really nice to see the process companies go through for recycling as a topic, maybe a tour of what other bio plastic and alternative sources are doing to make the products more acessible

I appreciate that there are other options becoming available to avoid plastic, but I think another large issue is that everyone litters... even if the litter is biodegradable, it's still a shitty thing to do

The ban on plastic straws is a failing of humanity. It’s the idea that we couldn’t convince people to not use straws unless we steal from them is just ridiculous.

I want to show this video to my students today, but you talk a little too fast for 4th graders to absorb all that information. It's great content!

What about the caterpillar that is able to break down plastic? It produces an enzyme that is capable of digesting most plastics! It's a really mean ( and awesome) looking insect!
