In this short clip bestselling author and influential thinker George Gilder discusses the effects of raising taxes on the wealthy. Although this is commonly pointed to as a solution for America's economic problems, you may be surprised by what this policy decision results in. In his new book Knowledge and Power: The Information Theory of Capitalism and How It Is Revolutionizing Our World, Gilder synthesizes his analysis of technology and economics to build a new theory of capitalism.

Productive and beneficial entrepreneurs deserve to be financially rewarded. Predatory and parasitic drainers of wealth from those who are productive and beneficial, should be exposed and penalized. Some billionaires today are awful people who made fortunes by rigging the stock market, currency manipulation, predatory lending, funding political candidates that create laws that are a net negative for millions of citizens, creating candidates that steered trillions of tax dollars into bailing out banks that had engaged in deceptive and illegal lending activities, instead of providing interest reductions that would have allowed ten million Americans to not be evicted from their homes. What is needed are changes that provide motivation for the productive and beneficial while penalizing the deceptive and parasitic. To tell the truth, this is happening naturally as cell phones, digital media, and increasing human communication is the "Light that exposes the darkness for it's evil deeds." Some extremely wealthy are even getting on board, as the Truth enters the World in ever greater Power.

Nonsense. In the 50's the top corporate tax rate was 90% and that was the most productive time in American history. Of course we owned all industry as post WW2 economies were in ruins, but tax dollars created many of the great American landmarks and kept millions employed. Employed people put money into the economy to buy more goods and services.

When the country is an oligarchy for the wealthy and politicians can be bought it's a lose lose for the vast majority.

There should be no taxes for anyone, rich, poor or in-between. The government does not need to collect taxes when it can just print money. Taxes are only used as a psychological tool to make you obedient and fearful.

The problem is not TAX RATES. The problem is that the average American's income "buying power" has not gone up in comparison to the top 1% in 30 years. The average Americans income has stayed consistent while the top 1% has gone up more then 30%. The markets know how much money is out there. All the money the fed dumps into the economy to supplement the "best economy in the world" HA has to go somewhere. If companies were as concerned with pay rates for the average employe as they are at raising the CEO's pay. This economy would be stronger and the companies would be making more because the economy would be more based off of what people can afford instead of debt. This country was strongest when the middle class was strongest "had more buying power" and tax rates were HIGHER then they are today! This guy is just puking up gibberish! Now DI can you please go back to making "science" videos i can disagree with :)

The fallacy of this or any other video or discussion on economics and the best policy to implement. Is the fact that tax rates influence economic growth or decline.

There has always been economic growth or decline even crashes, when taxes are higher or lower.

The truth is economic health is more akin to a societies perception. Start talking about a looming recession and what happens both the rich and average consumer begin to tighten their belts. A recession ensues.

Start telling everyone the economic picture is beginning to improve and the recession begins to lessen and recover.

The plain simple truth is you need cash flow to keep any economy moving.
