That “how high maintenance are you?” quiz is not just irritating, it’s illogical to the point of stupidity. For me at least, the whole point of permanent makeup and gel nails and certain hair treatments is to be LOW maintenance. I get some of those things sometimes, and the attraction is that you make time once a fortnight (nails) or once every couple months (hair) or I’m guessing once every year or two (tattooed eyeliner etc) and then you basically don’t have to think about it the rest of the time, even if you have a job where you have to look neat and tidy. I would MUCH rather spend an hour getting gels on my nails once every two weeks, and then have no maintenance, than have to deal with breaks and chips and general upkeep every few days. Hair treatments alone cut my getting-dressed time by about 60% every day. I can go from waking up to ready for work in 15 minutes precisely because I take an hour or two every few weeks or months to get long-lasting things done.

I mean, sure, you can choose a career where nobody cares how you look, but how many of those are out there? Even when I was a teacher I was expected to look tidy and professional, though they didn’t care if my nails and face were painted.

my favorite not like other girls experience was this one girl complaining on a finnish online forum how she hates that a youth magazine had an article about a korean boy group (either super junior or shinee) and how it turns her favorite group into a mass music group and no self-respecting fan wants their fave to be mass. honey, that boy group you stan *is* mass music in south korea.
(this happened in like 2011 or 2012, before kpop was as popular worldwide as it is now)

1:40 It's incredibly sad and frustrating when someone knows firsthand how shitty it is to feel looked down on and excluded, and instead of realising how petty the whole Cool Crowd mentality is they just come up with their own Cool Crowd to exclude people from.

Right when I'm so frustrated at my job to the point I'm ready to just quit, Vincey arrives with another video to help calm me down and let me relax. Not the hero we deserve, but he's the hero we needed.

I, as a straight man, scored >50 pts. Am I a high maintenance woman? Or is that whole thing bullshit?

I'm leaning toward the latter

I was at my internship the other day and heard the most "not like other girls" rant i ever heard in real life. Id never heard an adult say some of those things in real life. I thought we'd all agreed over a certain age, we'd keep the stupid stuff online....

I love the I'm not like other girls subreddit...it makes me laugh, cuz every girl has that phase. And I still cringe when me and my sisters mention our not like other girls moments. Though my sister a year behind me was the worst of all of us.

Why do so many people think it's a flex to drink black coffee? Wasn't aware I was so quirky and original for not liking milk.

"why can't you be normal?" Normal is for science and statistics, not personalities, variety is what makes life worth while

The black coffee one had me eye rolling. As a batista I'd have at least 3 customers an hour being all 'just a plain black coffee, you got that? Black. Coffee. Bet no one ever orders that instead of all these frou frou coffee milky things.' Usually it was blokes wanting to be all manly (how can drinks be gendered even??) and totally unaware of all the other people around them drinking black coffee.

I love that there's so many Simpsons references and that he adds the clips for context

Keep up the awesome work dude 💙

I feel like this is just the female equivalent of nice guys/neck beards. "I'm not like other people of my sex. I'm so much better."

Girls, your emotions are valid. Boys?

Your emotions are valid, too. Have a great day!!

A lot of this comes from internalised misogyny

I really like how commentary channels like Vincey post daily, because then you have hours of content to binge watch.

Totally normal part of development, we all have a phase like this. I don't find this sort of behaviour cringey when it's from a kid in middle school or high school, or maybe even early college, but if you're still in this phase past your mid-20's(and that's being generous), then it's maybe time to seek some help, or at the very least reevaluate some things in your life. This sort of behaviour from grown adults is sad and creepy.

5:50 Yeah, I still follow this one to an extent. Mainly because I can't get away from anything that's super popular, because it's overplayed to the point of irritation.

But if I give it a little while, let the hype die down, and wait for the overplaying to stop, I find that I like the music more. Some of the songs I absolutely hated when they first came out are songs I really enjoy, now.

It's just hard to like anything when it's plastered everywhere and in your face all the time.

That high maintenance chart is bs. A woman can buy her own stuff! Not to mention you gotta wear different clothes for work, exercise, chilling at your house, formal party, semi-formal party, and different weather conditions for all these events too.
This also has nothing to do with gender since I know all my friends have different outfits for different occasions!
