I found my Malinois walking by a river in the same condition as your dog, I rescue animals and always carry food with me, as soon as he saw me he started to come towards me. I put him in the car and proceeded to go to the vet office. I didn’t have the need to put a leash on him. He was on the back seat, I stopped at a red light and he reached out to me and leaked my hand so I rubbed his head and went back, at the next light he again leaked my hand and again I rubbed his head but this time he came to the front seat an put his head on my lap until we arrived at the vet office. He went home with me, usually I find homes for them but this time “Duke” name I gave him stay with me. I cook for him salmon, chicken, beef, and other kinds of food and beans in a week he put 25 pounds and fully recovered, I don’t know if mentally but I know that every day he showed me how great full he was. He passed away about 8 months ago and I miss him. Take care of your dog. Thank you for sharing
