I still remember what it felt like when I drove on my own for the first time when my parents got me my first car. I felt like a young lion out in the wild on his own for the first time. It felt so strange to not have anyone sit next to me.

I passed my driving test last week, and drove on my own for the first time a few days later. It was only a short detour to pick my friend up, and then straight to college. I was so nervous! I put some music on very quietly and spoke to myself the whole time, it sounds crazy, but it worked! I encountered no issues at all, and as I parked up outside of my college, I felt so proud of myself! The drive home from college was even better (although one of my teachers was driving behind me for ages, which made me very anxious!) Being able to give my friend a lift home made me feel really good. I did stall once, but it’s bound to happen due to it being a new car that I’m not yet use to; but I kept calm, and corrected it well. The independence is amazing. As long as you stay calm and always THINK about everything you’re doing, everything will be fine :)

It is still annoying that after being independence, when my mom is with me in car. She try to act as my driving instructor 😂😂 😂

I had to drive from buying my first car from South Wales to Bristol on a motorway. It was petrifying, especially with articulated lorries alongside me and not having driven on a motorway before. My friend was driving in front and advised me “just focus on your lane and your driving, and drive slowly but safely”. I never forgot that first drive as a solo driver.

For me my biggest fears after passing my test have been parking in busy car parks and tackling complex roundabouts/junctions I've not been on before.

Planning ahead helps with the latter, I'm constantly studying streetview/maps for lane choices before the journey and try to keep them in my head, with the sat nav as an extra aid.

Parking somewhere busy took me a little while. I've definitely spent a lot of time after my test practising in empty car parks to get better at parking and I've recently been to a few places that are busier. I've not attempted to park in between two cars just yet but I'll get there eventually!

Passed my driving test 1st time less then a week ago, but I honestly didn’t think I would pass and now I don’t feel ready It’s so strange driving alone, wish I had more confidence thanks for your videos 😊

Honestly my first drive alone wasn't scary at all. If anything it was less scary than having someone with me. The experience was weird when I first moved off because I have never moved off without having to wait for someone to be with me but after that it felt completely natural but there was a weird feeling behind it as I was in complete control

I got a new car in November and it really knocked my confidence at first as it was completely different! I was very nervous driving I'm dark, winter weather, busy Christmas traffic. But with practise I'm better now

What i have notice with my friends, after they have gotten their licence driving alone for a long distance boost their confidence afterwards, while before the trip they were terrified.

Got my first car today! I had to drive at night and on a highway for my first time driving alone I was nervous at first but then started gaining confidence and it went really smooth! I would say just stay calm and definitely have gps if you’re not sure where you’re going (which really helped me) also be extra aware. I have to drive my self to work all this week and back to the car dealership which is a 40 minutes drive but I’m not nervous at all now.

When I passed my test, I always had an accompanying person with me for a few weeks afterwards. When I dropped somebody off, that was the first time on my own driving. You get used to it

This video is absolutely helpful for the new drivers. I hardly got my licence however I passed the driving exam at first attempt. Drove quite carefully and kept my calmness on the busy traffic, before the exam I had roughly 50 hours lesson and my instructor and me were extremely anxious and i thought he had feelings about my test would be fail anyway I passed and bought my car a few days ago plus started driving on my own last four days. Firstly I went to work on my own came home totally 40 miles and I was really scared because of it was the first time for me to being in a traffic independently and tonight touched someone’s car as I parked anyway nothing is serious but if the owner of the car realises then the problem gets bigger. I would like to share a few things with the new drivers, i stalled the car at the traffic lights a few times some drivers behind me horned their car and some of them waited patiently even I put “P” mark on my car. So, just do your best and stay always calm guys. All the drivers was like us before they start driving with their single hand 😁 and don’t forget every story should build your experience. Stay safe and be drive carefully that’s it ...

Great video, as always. I’ve been driving solo for just over two months now. For me, it stopped feeling strange after about a week, but that doesn’t mean I’ve got used to it! Every drive is still a big deal, an “event”. I haven’t driven solo on a motorway yet, I want to do my Pass Plus first.

The main thing is to concentrate, carry on doing everything you were taught and treat it all as a learning opportunity. The good news is that physically controlling the car definitely comes more easily the more regularly you do it.

Thank you for this. My friend who is on my insurance part drove my car home and made me change over and drive.

I have to say I was so petrified of test driving the car. But I was encouraged as he said your the one who will be driving the car. Because it was petrol and I learnt in a diesel I thought I was going to be stalling. The guy from the company was so reassuring and my mate sat in the back and I was fine.

I watched this before I applied for a license, . Now I revisited it after having my license, before trying to drive beyond our neighborhood. Still feeling nervous, but I can still find some comfort in this video. Thank you!
