There was a woman who never had a child. One day she said that she does not care if the God gives her a puppy she would bring up it as well. Shortly a piggy came into the world, she named her Red-Piggy and she treated her as a child, and sent her to school as well. One day the neighbour-boy watched Red-Piggy as she was taking off the pig-coat and she changed into a beautiful girl. He proposed her and after the wedding when she took off the pig-coat her mother-in-law burned it so that she could never reconvert.

Made by the Kecskemét Film Studio.
Directed by: Mária Horváth, Marianna Hajdu
Storyteller: Gyula Szabó
Music: Kaláka band

The makers used the decorative art of a certain countryside region at each episode. The trio of folk art, folk music and folk tales are masterfully combined in the episodes, which have unique imagery, sometimes spicy folk humor in the dialogues. Thanks to the natural presentation of the storytellers, and the music of the Kaláka band, the viewer can experience something unique and special.

This story is unique to me since it gives me the vibe that the whole "pink pig" disguise can be considered as a metaphor. Where in the part when the boy saw what she really looked under can be viewed as the boy learning something about the girl and that made him fall for her.

Edit: woah. Ngl I forgot I even commented here. The fact that I'm still getting notifications from this is wild. Had it really been 6 years??? Anyway, y'all got interesting takes. Hope y'all are having a nice day

what an unusually sweet one. usually in these 'marry an animal' stories the person doesn't learn to love the animal until AFTER they've been revealed to be another human in disguise, like they've being forced to marry a bear or frog or what ever. here, it only matters that the boy knows the pig is human because otherwise it would be weird that he cared about a pig romantically XD i think that's the joke

I love how, even though the child was born different, she still raised it with love and care.

"But what could she do? Now she had a pink pig and it was her duty to raise it as best she could"

I, for one, think the aggressive kazoo music is an especially delightful complement to the story.

Now this is a rare story where villagers stay in the village instead of marching away to a palace. I love it!

There is a lot of symbolism in this tale. From the desperate mother getting what she wanted yet was displeased when she got it because it wasn't what she really wanted, the pig child being kept from being with other children do to her mothers shallow opinions of her looks, the pig being beautiful on the inside, and the boy next door falling in love and marrying the girl he loved in spite of everyone trying to change his mind. Something that I absolutely loved about this story was how, aside from the mother and the teacher, everyone else in the village really tried to give the pig girl a chance to have a normal childhood. The mothers forced the issue of allowing the pig to go to school and the only reason the boy next door saw the pig childs true self was that he was told to look out for her while they were playing with the other children. Sure, his parents still didn't want a pig as a daughter-in-law but that's only because they didn't know the real her the way their son did and, in the end, they still relented and openly endorsed his marriage. It's a really beautiful and meaningful tale.

If a child is raised right, nobody will care about looks.

The boy next door then trained for years to become a witcher so that he could break the pig's curse
