Honestly, I'm just glad that this turned out to be one of those stories where, for once, the older brothers don't get mean and jealous of the youngest's good fortune. Even though the moments were very short, it was nice to see them interacting as actual siblings and sharing the happy ending together.

"Lie down and take a rest." That's pretty much how I deal with all my issues.

I like how every guy in Hungarian Folk Tales has a mustache. It’s like Mario’s extended family.

The most unrealistic part of this story is how the cat walks behind the prince instead of walking right where he's going to step, and making him trip.

Didn't think I'd see one without any murder, threats or jealousy. It was nice.

The prince spent the whole story either napping or complaining and still got the best prize. Hurray for being the youngest child in a Hungarian Folk Tale.

I like the fact the brothers were not jealous and were still happy with their brides.

What I really like about this story is that it shows that the other brothers weren’t jealous of their younger sibling, they were curious about everything, but showed no signs of jealousy. Instead, they were happy with what they received, and happy with their wives.

I noticed that 2 Hungarian stories I’ve seen so far include
1. A talking animal
2. It being magic
3. Our main protagonist is a prince
4. Who happens to be the youngest of 3 brothers
5.ends up with the coolest chick in the end

The moral of the story: it’s impossible to say no to a cat.

First rule of Hungarian fairytales, never make a kitty cat cry. This has become my favorite fairytale from Hungary, I love cats and I love Fairytales.

Finally, an animated story that doesn’t automatically vilify cats!
I grew up in Japan, and there are plenty of folktales there that show cats as benevolent creatures.

There’s even a story with a cat wife.

The newlywed woman named Miu, to save her husband and the village from starvation caused by a huge rat infestation, turns herself into a white cat.
The cat, while normally quiet and gentle, turns into a ferocious huntress by day and tirelessly chases away the rats from the village.
While everybody thanks and praises the cat, she would not accept any warm hearth or whatever scraps the villagers could manage to offer. Instead, she would silently turn away and go into the husband’s small run down house at the edge of the village and stay closely by his side.
While the husband mourns for his missing bride, he finds solace in the cat’s companionship.
At the end of the story, he lovingly pets the cat beside him and asks the cat if she might know where his wife might be. Upon which she simply quietly meows, “Miu.”

On one hand I'm completely enchanted by this, but on the other hand I'm a little sad the prince never had faith in the kitty cat until she showed herself as a beautiful princess.

I'm starting to believe that Hungary was once a very magical place.

This made me learn to have patience when looking for love, but it also made me think that the writer of the story didn't have that many pet cats.

I like how in those stories everyone is so casual about everything.

Just imagine first thing someone says to you ever is "I'll marry you"
