One of my players is a Lizardfolk Druid from the swamps in my setting. I'm thinking that when he gets back to his tribe, he'll discover that they're sick with a mysterious illness they couldn't heal because their only Druid (him) had left. This illness can turn out to be Slaad Tadpoles.

Watching this now during the cicadiapocolypse. Good stuff. I agree to always change the lore, but what's written is a great starting spot. Working on a Gygax 75 exercise and Slaad are going to fit nicely.

I'm kinda playing with the idea that the Slaad are a sort of weaponized lifeform made by Aboleths. Sort of like a giant middle finger to magic users and warriors. Think Morgoth making orcs to mock elves, ancient Aboleths making Slaad to mock spell casters

wait .... by your recoliction of lore death slads can only happen when a gray slaad eat a death slad so does that mean there is a limited number of death slaads ??? is killing most of death slaads would end them for good ?

The brutality of the slaadi always annoy me. They are supposed to be incarnations of chaotic NEUTRAL not evil.
