Roy Brown served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was assigned with the Hospital Corps as a Corpsman at 18 years of age. Roy was with the 27th Regiment, 2nd Battalion, E Company. He landed in the first wave of Higgins Boats (LCVP's) February 19, 1945 on Iwo Jima. Roy was the very first Iwo Jima Veteran I interviewed. Roy was a great man and I miss him and all my veterans dearly. He is buried in California.

Thank you very much for doing this interview. I served in the Navy from 24 August 1970 to 10 November 1971. I graduated from HCS in April 1971. All but about two months of my time as a corpsman was spent at Naval Hospital, San Diego (on Ward 26-6C, an SOQ surgical ward). While I greatly admire Marines and our Marine Corps, I never got to serve with them. Semper Fidelis to every Marine who served his Corps and Country honorably. Andy McKane, Maunaloa, Hawaii.

Roy Brown was the very first Iwo Jima Veteran I interviewed in 2003. Roy’s story is very gripping. As an 18 year old Navy Corpsman you can imagine what he saw and experienced. Roy is buried in California and is greatly missed!!
