God bless you. My ex father in law was a Doc in that battle. Herb Matthews. Nice man and he lived into his 80s. He had nightmares every night. He had to sleep in a room alone. God bless you sir.

Thanks for sharing your huge experience and service to our country. . I read books on Iwo Jima, but hearing from Doc made it more real.

God Bless you, Doc Emery. I often wonder if a corpsman ever got to my uncle Bertil from the 4th Marine Division who was kia on February 20, 1945.

This was an extremely powerful episode. Thank you, once again, Larry. You have been blessed so heavily to be able to speak to these men about events they’ve probably never talked about. I can’t even imagine the chills and the gravity you feel doing these interviews. Again, thank you for your work.

Yeah Larry, I dont THINK we've seen a WW2 Vet on here YET that didnt live into his 90s?. Ya did GREAT job on your question/answer timing and response "coaxin" ole Doc along, and joggin his memory. 😎Kinda funny that when I first saw some of his facial expressions, he looked JUST LIKE an actor, that played on Andy G alot as a seedy, kinda less than honest character (the miracle salve of Opie's AND the .22 rifle booth at the carnival..LOL) and kept havin to REMIND myself THIS AINT HIM..🙃 Again, its so cool that we can get the straight DOPE from these WW2 Vets to keep eroding away what FOLLYWOOD has feed to us all our lives.😎

My uncle (my maternal grandfather, an immigrant from Italy, only son) was an Army medic, killed on Okinawa; maybe it was the Red Cross.

Great video Larry. As for Morphine there is no limit as to the amt that a person permitted. My wife has a neurological disorder that she was taking 1200 mg a day' Most doctors had never seen such a dosage. She now has 2 brain implants to help control her pain. but still uses morphine. Morphine is not physically addictive. That's old thinking. Modern meds do not work on the tumors that develop. If you saw her she does not look ill in any way.
