I learned German as a child in Frankfurt and Vilseck. Age 1 to 4 or 5. My father was in the U.S. Army. Then 1983 to 1985 I was at Mainz-Finthen Army Airfield as a soldier. I spoke high German with words ending in ish. I had a great time there. I sounded like a native but didn't know I spoke German as a child till before my father died age 89!

I am presently taking a German class online. As a G.I. in Germany in the 60s I was married in Switzerland and lived in Germany for two years. Beautiful country.

I was in Switzerland last year in Zurich, Lucern, Spiez, Bern, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Gruyères, Zermatt, Appenzell and many more little villages. I went up Mt. Pilatus and on the Glacier Express and up to Ebenalp and watched the Alpine descent of the cows in Lauterbrunnen. In Langnau, I found the home where my great-great-grandmother was born. This trip absolutely changed my life. Switzerland is the most beautiful place on earth. The beauty and the church bells soothed my soul. I’m trying to find a way to come spend more time there. If anyone has advice, let me know 😉

I think that music is not loud enough, if you try to give knowledge makes sure that people hear that .

German seems easy compared to Swiss German…the gutural trill “r” is so much more pronounced. I’m not that accustomed to adding that much force into it

Swiss German sounds like if an Italian was speaking German.

High German vs regular German, didn’t know there are classes among German language. Imagine how they feel about other languages. Well that sounds a little snobbish, not unlike certain German movement during the late 1930s
