Is there a free trial available?

I agree with others that it would be good to have more information about what makes Solidworks better than other software on the market. Something besides testimonials, because testimonials are meaningless nowadays. I used Solidworks in college but because of the price point ended up moving to other software which is currently handling everything I need. It's been so long that I can't imagine your product being worth paying a monthly fee and relearning how to use it. I would need a refresher on what makes Solidworks good.

I also don't like what seems to be a very closed ecosystem. "Secure on the cloud", sounds to me like you're trying to turn an inconvenience into a feature. Seems like a veiled effort to keep people tied to your software ecosystem by making sure they aren't really in control over the things they create.

Overall very wary, but willing to hear more.

So if i understand correctly, this runs in a browser with no option to run locally on my machine? Can I use this version to continue getting my certifications? Also, will it work with plugins like McMaster Carr or Keyshot?

Can I use 3DExperience for Makers to prototype an idea and file a patent application, prior to then purchasing the Solidworks tools that I would need for commercialization? In other words, once I file the patents and I decide that I do want to go ahead and commercialize a version 2 of the idea.

1 - Could I even file a patent using the 3DExperience for Makers tool first?

2 - After the prototype and patent, could I then purchase a commercial license for Solidworks and import my files from the 3DExperience for Makers tool?

This process has got to be some of the worst communication I have seen. Lots of words and bugger all information imparted. What I've been able to glean so far is:-

1. Cloud, nothing positive there unless you love looking at the wait for me wheel going around. Cloud is the greatest time waster invented especially coupled with Win 10 compulsory updates.

2. Sculpt lifted from Fusion.

3. Lose all access to CAM.

Not looking like it is worth the bother, unless I've missed something which would be easy because the so called information is more spin than a politician.

Would this allow me to sell my designs? I use Solidworks at school with the student licence, but that one doesn't allow me to sell my designs. I just want the same stuff from the student license with the ability to sell my stuff, where the license is the cheapest possible.

Using the makers license, Is it allowed for YouTubers to use the software to make money from ad revenue on videos about projects designed using the software.

And or videos containing images and animations generated in software available through the license.

If the YouTuber doesn’t sell or distribute parts or files created using the software, does the £2000 limit apply?

This is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like solidworks. Do not waste your money!. If you have EVER use solidworks you will be totally confused. Not even worth $1.

Dont know what you really are talking about. I work since 2010 with SW Prof (so since over 12 years) and there are so many things missing in this "Maker" version. Then also to have to pay 10$ / month or 100$ / year is way too expensive (as all programms at 3DS of the brand SolidWorks especially - 15k / license) compared with what Fusion360 can offer and that for 0$. We have two full licences 2014 and 2017 - beacuse the also overpriced monthly support fee of around 400$ is stupidly high (so good is SW not). We just took the second license cause we were growing and we wanted to keep using all our old files.
If they implement stresstest and addaptive construction to it for their price I would also take it. Cause addaptive construction is the most important for makers, as the 3D-printing is the only way to produce the total complex shapes out of that tool and therefore FOR MAKERS ... but as I am used to of 3DS they make everything half-hearted.
