This, like every other deleted scene should be restored in a Director's cut. It shows Tom's intelligence and knowledge of the family. Mike was kinda deceitful and of course the Wise and Great Don knew Tom would've figured it out. He seemed proud that Tom Caught it

To everyone wanting a "Director's Cut" with the deleted scenes, there is.

The problem is, it has never been ported over to DVD/Blu-Ray.

It was called the Godfather Saga, or the Godfather Saga for tv. The tv cut was about a 4.5hr cut that was split into 4 episodes for part 1 and 6 for part 2.

I saw it once on AMC. They don't use that version often.

Vito's biggest mistake was to make Michael as head of the family. He should have split his empire and given it to his most trusted friends, Clemenza and Tessio. Fredo is to be a owner of a casino in Vegas, Michael and Hagen both college educated men will each have their own legit businesses not associated with the Mafia.
