Whatever Happened To USA Swimming Star Mark Spitz?

Mark Spitz is a force to be reckoned with. The Olympic swimming icon, best known for his incredible performance at the 1972 Munich Summer Games, once held the distinction of winning the most gold medals in a single Olympics. Spitz sported a whopping seven gold medals on the podium in Munich, and won nine gold medals in total during his career. Michael Phelps has since surpassed Spitz in this regard, joining Spitz as one of the most famous swimmers of all time. Wondering what happened to USA swimming star Mark Spitz since his glory days? Mark Spitz was my inspiration as a young boy, although I swam competitively in highschool, I continue to do so recreationally today and fully endorse the low impact this form of exercise has on your body . So glad he's doing what he enjoys as a result of his success in the pool .

It’s great to hear he didn’t ‘go to the dark side’. I remember the infamous picture with all the gold medals but nothing whatsoever after. He has aged VERY VERY well. I wish him continued good health and prosperity

Glad to see a story about a celebrity that has done well over the years. Too often such videos are about the tragic lives of those who did not. Video well done.

Mark Spitz won all those medals and at least in the 1972 Games, set all those world records without goggles, swim cap, and he wore speedos. He also sported a mustache and thick wavy hair. I wonder how much faster he would have been with the modern technology? We’ll never know, but his swimming greatness will never be forgotten. He was also about the most gorgeous thing my ten-year old self had ever seen. He still looks fantastic!
